{I did a glassblowing thing and this ornament was the result. It’s so pretty!}
Good morning, fam! Yr pal al here, psyching myself up to read 100 books again next year. (I did it in 2022. I can totally do it again.)
This week got hosed (between one work thing + another work thing + a kid with a fever, we were doomed) and we couldn’t record. But we’re recording this week, so next Monday, December 23, you’ll have an episode again! Sorry for the mini hiatus! I made you a little gift guide down below as an apology and to help you if you need some ideas. 😘
Read to the end for the ol’ razzle dazzle.
It would rule if you’d forward this along to anyone who might dig our podcast. New episodes are out every Monday, plus Untethered minisodes on (most) Wednesdays, and we’re on all the podcast platforms like Apple Podcasts + Spotify + Castbox + Google Podcasts.
If you have any feedback or ideas you want to hear us cover, or if you just want to say hi, you can reply to this email and it’ll come straight to us. We’re also on:
email + tiktok + youtube + twitter + instagram + facebook group + read with tether facebook group — our next book is TBD. Email us suggestions!
{Oh you mean my number one prized possession?? Via Twitter.}
Here are some things I liked online this week:
I made this fried pickle dip for an ornament exchange I went to this weekend. Super easy and tasty. I’d serve it with Ruffles, instead of the Ritz crackers I picked this time.
My brain when I’m trying to work this week before Christmas time off starts.
These ricotta meatballs look delicious, and I really enjoy Pinch of Yum’s recipes.
Friend of the pod Wes sent me this really well-designed site that puts the world’s wealth into perspective.
Here’s a gift guide I curated:
A book subscription box! Here’s a big list and here are my picks:
I’ve done Book of the Month off and on for more than 5 years now; my referral link gets your first box for $5.
I might switch from it to Jordy’s Book Club’s new box. He’s a guy I’ve followed closely on Instagram for years, and I know his selections will be good.
I hear Aardvark is great and has solid selections.
There are some themed boxes too, like Feminist Book Club (I did that for a while, good picks) and Night Worms (horror, but I haven’t tried it).
This lamp seems really cool. Disregard it being called an ‘intimacy lamp’ (I mean unless you’re into that?) — I just think it would make a room look neato.
This is by far my favorite water bottle. They’re in some stores and on Amazon, too. A Stanley ain’t for me.
My Kindle is one of my most-used things, other than my phone and water bottle. I honestly can’t rave about that little guy enough. It’s backlit but you can dim it enough not to wake up someone asleep beside you; it holds a gazillion books; it has a lonnnnggggg battery life (esp if you leave it in airplane mode when not downloading a new book); it’s very small but easy to hold; you can adjust the font style and size to suit you. I take it everywhere because ten minutes of reading here and there adds up! Get a library card and get free ebooks… and sail the high seas and get even more.
Nail care stuff!
OPI Nail Envy is the only reason my nails don’t just shred to pieces (and you can find it for about $10 at TJ Maxx usually)
Any brand/style of glass nail file is easier on your nails than the classic type of file and lasts foreverrrr
Cuticle oil will save you especially in the winter (that brand is good but any is fine)
Hand cream (this one is my current fav)
I personally think a weighted eye mask would be rad.
This body lotion smells so good I have strangers ask me what I’m wearing. Target sells it too and it’s cheap.
Behold. (Some hairless cats are only partly hairless. The more you know!)
Thanks for reading & listening! Love u mean it!
🖤
