{Not on my car, but yes that’s my metalcore shirt reflection.}
Goooooood morning, friendos! It is with a heavy heart that I tell you we are ending the ol’ podcast. (Did you know ‘penultimate’ means next-to-last?)
But no, I’m not kidding. I’m truly sorry. It’s been a great run, but with a combination of burnout, busy-ness, and the general feeling of ‘damn the news suuuucks all the time now', we feel like Tether Radio has run its course. Maybe it ain’t forever, who’s to say? We’re still friends and we’re still around.
We didn’t record for this week but we are recording one final episode this week, so that will be out next Monday, March 10.
And I’ll send one final newsletter next week so you guys have all our links and places to find us. (I, your faithful newsletter correspondent Alli, am gonna at the very least spin up my own weekly newsletter so hang on for next week please please please.)
Read to the end for what may be the best photo I’ve ever taken of my younger cat, Miette.
{I regret to inform you that the crunchwrap sliders from Taco Bell are really good.}
If you have any feedback or if you just want to say hi, you can reply to this email and it’ll come straight to us. We’re on (for now, since I’m unsure yet what all we’re keeping) — although we ARE planning to keep book club at least:
email + tiktok + youtube + twitter + instagram + facebook group + read with tether facebook group — our next book is Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister. I read it a couple years ago and it’s an all-time fav of mine. I’m excited to read it again and talk about it. It’s a time loop sort of sci-fi, but very realistic and doesn’t get into the physics of the time loop or anything like that. Really interesting thriller. Hope you join us! We’ll share the date in the Facebook group when it’s nailed down.
Things from this week:
My friend bought into this years back on Indiegogo and now that he has it, he loves it — this shower TV. If you’re a TV person, consider it. He says it’s fantastic.
Slate did this writeup about how shitty (ha) eco-friendly toilets are in America. I haven’t fully read it but skimming it, it looked entertaining.
Because I am somehow a dad (despite being female and childfree), a friend recommended this book the other day about the guy who invented the diesel engine. It seems good.
And another dad book that I can personally recommend is this one I just finished about JFK and the failed assassination attempt on him before the one that took. The audio was solid and it turns out JFK had an insane time in the navy, too.
Okay, since I’m recommending books, this new release thriller is one of the best I’ve read in quite a while. I really couldn’t put it down or shut up about it. This author is incredible and this was my third from her—all just as good.
Look at this cuddlebug. Climbed under the covers with me.
Thanks for reading & listening! Love u mean it!
